Here's where I tell you how awesome I am and why...In third grade, when asked what I wanted to do when I grew up, I replied:
"I want to live in the lap of luxury." When my fourth grade teacher asked the same question, I answered: “I want to be a house painter.” As a surly teenager, I sang at Carnegie Hall… Asked again by parents and counselors, I said: “I’m going to be a singer.” When I graduated high school… “Ida know.” Since Georgia Southern University didn't offer a degree for Smart Aleck House Painting Vocal Artists, I had to choose a major. After lots of Sports Marketing, Business Ethics, Shakespeare, and Communication Theory courses, I chose Public Relations. With tires squealing, I peeled out of the town of Statesboro, Georgia the day after my college graduation and never looked back. A week later, I was working at a road racing school, conceptualizing print ads, drafting copy for radio ads, writing press releases, analyzing sales statistics to create media plans...and loving it. My world revolved around revving engines, the smell of burnt fuel, genius mechanics, world-famous race car drivers, and a few celebrities. I even wrecked a race car... In the years that followed, I have managed photo shoots, coordinated the launch of multiple products and services, ate lots of chocolate peanut butter ice cream, planned events and trade shows, drank beer, assisted in the redesign of a few websites, fell in love with a pug, taught myself to cook, wrote hundreds of thousands of words, and made some really amazing friends. |
